Lorrha GAA News for 26 December

November 8, 2018

Adjourned AGM: The Adjourned AGM took place on Monday night last. Report next week.

Juvenile AGM: Just seven people turned up at last weeks Juvenile meeting as things reached crisis point in terms of help for our underage teams. Aidan McIntyre stepped down as Chairman after four years but the position wasn’t filled. Niall Brophy stepped down as secretary and was replaced by Ruth Needham.
Worryingly also, no managers were selected for the U12 & 14 teams. Hubert Hogan takes over the Under 16’s for the year ahead. For the club to have a bright future, a lot more people need to get involved with our underage teams, particularly the parents of the children in those categories. All the vacant roles will be filled in the New Year.

1984 Reunion: The club will host a 25-year reunion for the 1984 senior team which won the North Tipp title and reached the county final. It will take place on Monday, 28 December in the GAA Clubhouse. Presentations will be made to each of the panel and management. Ray Kennedy will provide music while there will also be finger food. There is no charge so it is the place to head to on Monday, 28 December starting at 8.30pm sharp. The weekly lotto draw will also take place there on the night.

Race-Night: A race-night fundraiser will be held in The Friars Tavern on Sunday, 27 December. Support for the night has been very good and a lively night is expected.

Dinner Dance: Lorrha GAA and Camogie club will host a joint-dinner dance in the Co. Arms Hotel, Birr on Saturday, 30 January 2010. Medals will be presented on the night to the Junior Camogie team, the senior men on their league victory and the U16’s for their North Final success.

Coaching: A coaching course will take place in the second week of January. The courses will take place over three nights. Confirmed dates in next weeks notes.

Referees Course: Anyone interested in doing a referees course in the new year is to contact the club asap.

Support Your Club: If you are a Vodafone customer you can now support the Lorrha club by signing up to Vodafone Support Your Club for free. At absolutely no cost to you 5% of your monthly bill or top up will go directly to the club. Club members and supporters also need to register at www.supportyourgaaclub.ie

Lotto: All lotto draws take place in the GAA Clubhouse on Monday night. The draw takes place at 10pm and all are welcome to attend. Thank you for your continued support.

Old Time Dancing: There will be no Old Time Dancing on Christmas night. Dancing resumes on New Years night to the music of Footloose. Dancing 9.30pm to 12.30am.
