Lorrha GAA News for 26 July

November 8, 2018

Senior: The draw for the Senior ‘B’ Championship took place on Monday evening with Lorrha drawn to meet Carrick Swans in the first round. This game is likely to take place on Friday, 1 August. The winner plays Borris-Ileigh in the quarter finals.

Junior Hurling: Lorrha’s unbeaten start to the championship came to an end on Saturday, losing by five points to Kildangan in Ballinderry on a scoreline of 1-15 to 0-13. Best performances from Graham Houlihan, Liam Carroll and Brendan Coen. It was a poor performance but our destiny is still in our own hands in the race for a quarter final spot. Our next game against Kilruane MacDonaghs is in Borrisokane on this Sunady morning @ 11.30am..

Minor Hurling: Kildangan were also our nemesis in the Minor championship last week in Puckane with the home side winning by 3-20 to 1-15. Lorrha need a win from their final game against Borris-Ileigh in Moatfield on Tuesday next to confirm a place in the quarter finals.

Under 16: With a depleted side, Lorrha travelled to Ballinderry last Monday and came away with a very good 1-16 to 2-10 win against Shannon Rovers Gaels. Lorrha have one group game remaining against Moneygall and a win would see them into the North Final.

Under 14: Once again, the game with Borris-Ileigh failed to materialise on Saturday. Next game at home to Ballina on Saturday.

Under 12: The Under 12’s championship campaign came to an end on Friday evening with Newport defeated Lorrha in the North Under 12 ‘C’ semi-final by 5-5 to 1-5. The club would like to thank the players and management for their efforts throughout the year and I am sure the team will still be hurling over the summer in an effort to improve as next years campaign starts now.

Jerseys: The new Lorrha jerseys are available for collection. All jerseys must be paid for when collected. There are also a number of jerseys in limited sizes available to buy. €35 for sizes 5-6 to 10-11 and €45 for sizes 13-14 to XXL.

Cul Camp: The Lorrha GAA Cul Camp got underway on Monday morning.

Get Well: A speedy recovery is wished to Ciaran Haugh who sustained a wrist injury during Lorrha’s minor game last week that is likely to keep him out for a few weeks.

Tipperary: Well Done to both Kevin & Patrick Maher who both played very important roles in Tipperary’s Under 21 win over Limerick. The final will be played on Wednesday next, 30 July with the venue depending on the outcome of the semi-final between Cork and Clare.
The Club would like to wish the best of luck to Kevin & Patrick Maher, Ronan O’Meara and Noel Hogan who will captain the Tipperary Intermediate team in this evenings Munster Final in Thurles. It will be a proud evening for the club and hopefully an even prouder one if a Lorrha man lifts the trophy for Tipperary.

Lotto: The numbers drawn on 14 July were: 14 – 19 – 20 – 28. No Winner.
The Lucky Dip winners were: Agnes Brophy, Martina O’Meara, Hazel Ryan, Gerard O’Meara and John Cleary. The Winning Promoters were: Brophys, Martin Hough and Mark Carroll. Thank you for your continued support.
