Lorrha GAA News for 28 June

Our jackpot now stands at €15,000. If our jackpot is not won, it will be capped at €15,000 with the roll over going onto the new jackpot which will start at €4,650. Senior: Lorrha are now awaiting a date for our county championship game with JK Brackens. This could be delayed due to progress of the Tipperary senior footballers over the next couple of weeks.

Junior Hurling: Lorrha will play Kildangan in the North Junior 'B' League final. The final is likely be played in the coming weeks but could be after our opening championship game which is against Ballina and is likely to be on this weekend 28-29 June. Check North Bord fixtures

Minor: The Minor hurlers got their North 'B' Championship campaign underway last Tuesday evening when they play Portroe in Portroe; news next week. We face Kildangan in round 2 in Moatfield on 3-4 July.

In preparation for the championship, Lorrha travelled to Loughrea last Saturday to take part in the Loughrea 7's. In the group stage, Lorrha lost to Eire Og Ennis by three points in the opener before going onto beat Meelick-Eyrecourt and Loughrea. However Lorrha missed out on the knockout stages on score difference after they finished level on points with Loughrea and Eire Og. Special mention to Brian Hogan who scored 16 goals in the three games.

Under 16: As we didn't have sufficient numbers to field an U16 team this year, four of our players will play for Shannon Rovers Gaels in the upcoming championship, starting next Monday against Borris-Ileigh in Ballinderry.

Under 14: Our young U14's lost 6-8 to 3-3 to Moneygall/Templederry on Monday week last. Their next game is away to Shannon Rovers in Ballinderry on Wednesday, 25th June at 6.30pm

Under 12: The U12's defeated Burgess 6-7 to 2-0 in Kilcoleman last Friday. Lorrha's next game is at home to Borrisokane next Friday at 6.30pm.

Schools: Hard luck to Lorrha/Redwood NS who lost 4-4 to 3-5 to Annacarty NS in a thrilling Cumann na mBunscol Roinn F County final in Semple Stadium, Thurles last Wednesday.

Tipperary: Hard luck to the Tipperary senior footballers against Cork last Saturday evening and best of luck to the Intermediate hurlers against Cork in the Munster Final this Wednesday evening.

Cul Camp: This years Kelloggs Cul Camp takes place in Moatfield from Monday 14th to Friday 18th July. To register, go online to www.kelloggsculcamps.gaa.ie/ where you can also redeem your money-off vouchers on Kelloggs cereal boxes. You can also book locally by contacting Juvenile Secretary Louise Mannion. Sign up your young stars for a week of fun where they will improve their skills, meet their friends and also some Tipp GAA stars.

Social Dancing: continues on Friday night to the music of Dessie Hynes and Frankie Scorr. Dancing 9.30pm to 12.30am. There are also Social Dancing Classes each Wednesday night in the GAA Centre from 8-11pm for both beginners and those looking to improve.
