Lorrha GAA News for 28 March

Adjourned AGM: The Adjourned AGM of Lorrha GAA club will take place on Monday next, 30 March at 8.30pm sharp. A number of issues from the AGM have been carried over plus we will have full information on the proposed development works. All members are asked to attend

Senior: Our next game in the league is against Éire Óg Annacarty in Moatfield on this Sunday, 29 March @ 12 noon.

Junior: The Juniors were defeated in their opening league game on Saturday in Moatfield by Kilruane. The visitors made the better start but a Colm Duggan goal brought Lorrha level on the quarter hour before Kilruane pushed on to lead by six at the break. Lorrha cut the gap in half shortly after the break but could not bridge it any further as Kilruane hit a late goal to seal the win. Next game is away to Roscrea in two weeks.

U21: The Under 21’s take on Templederry in the first round of the championship in Cloughjordan on this Saturday, 28 March at 5pm. Best of luck to the players and mentors.

U16 Football: v Ballina in Ballina on Monday next, 30 March @ 6.30pm.

U14 Football: Burgess failed to travel for last Sundays Feile Peil na nOg game. The game will be refixed for Moatfield. U14 Championship v Borrisokane in Borrisokane on Wednesday, 3 April @ 6.30pm.

Schools: Best of Luck to Willie Maher and Banagher Colleges team in their All Ireland semi-final against Col Phobail Roscrea on Sunday in Tullamore.

Juvenile: Hard luck to Philip Hogan and Niall O’Meara who were on the North Tipp U16 team that lost the Garda Cup final to Mid Tipp last weekend.

Lá na gClub: As part of the GAA’s 125 Celebrations, Sunday, 10 May has been designated as La na gClub. This day will be free of club and inter-county games with each club encouraged to host events to mark the influence of the GAA in the local community. A sub-committee will be set up at the Adjourned AGM club to organise events and all ideas are welcome.

Indoor Hurling: Indoor hurling continues in Lorrha Hall on Friday night at 7pm with Team 1 in charge.

Membership: Membership for 2009 is now available. €40 – Adult Players; €20 – Non Playing Adults; €15 – Minor/College Students and Juveniles (with match ticket entry); €10 – Juveniles (without match ticket entry). All players must have their membership paid before the start of the league and all membership is payable to club registrar Jack Maher or any committee member.

Lotto: The numbers drawn this week were: 4 – 13 – 24 – 26. No Winner.
The Lucky Dips were: V Donoghue, Brian Keeshan, Maureen O’Meara, Gerard O’Meara and Noel Houlihan. The Winning Promoters were: Garrett O’Meara, Martina Houlihan & Louis McCormack.

Old Time Dancing: Old Time Dancing continues on Friday night to the music of Catherine & Images. Dancing 9.30pm to 12.30am.
