Tony Hogan Fund: The club would like to offer a sincere thanks to everyone who made St Stephen’s Day such a wonderful success. At the time of going to print, almost €11,000 has been raised for the Tony Hogan Fund through our fundraising efforts.
The day began with the 7s Hurling Tournament which involved teams from Lorrha (x), Portumna (x2), Kilruane MacDonaghs, Borrisokane, Killimor, Meelick-Eyrecourt, Coolderry, Lusmagh and London club Brothers Pearse. After the group stages, the two Portumna teams, Coolderry and Brothers Pearse progressed to the semi-finals. Portumna and Coolderry met in a high class final with Portumna winning the inaugural tournament by two points with captain Andy Smith accepting the Sullivan Cup. A big thank you to TP Sullivan, John Cleary, Martin O’Shea and Jimmy Cahill for refereeing the games as well as to our numerous umpires and linesmen who ensured the games went without a hitch.
Thanks to Barry and Theresa Walker of the Ferry Inn who sponsored the trophies for the winning team and also to the Tara King and the Camogie Club for providing the hot meal to the players as well as much needed tea and sandwiches throughout the day.
Following a special mass in Lorrha church, the Clubhouse was packed to the rafters for the Benefit Night. A presentation was made by Brothers Pearse (London club of Tony Hogan) to Lorrha GAA club in recognition of the strong link which now exits between the two clubs. Thanks to Michéal Lambe, The Ryan family & Daniel Maher and DJ Sean O’Meara for providing the music and Hubie Hogan for the entertainment. Thank you also to Louise and Eamon Mannion for providing the food.
Thanks to all who provided prizes for the raffle and also to the players and club members who manned the door, worked the bars, sold raffle and cleaned-up. It was a massive team effort which led to the success of the night and it was great to see Tony Hogan there in good form and well on the road to recovery.
AGM: The AGM of Lorrha GAA Club was held in the GAA Centre on Tuesday, 19th December last in from of a good attendance. Secretary Shane Brophy gave a details report of on-field activities, while Treasurer Declan O’Meara reported that club finances have stabilised following our recent development with a plan in place for the future. Chairman William Harding thanked everyone who contributed in any way to the running of the club over the past year, and also made a special presentation to Davy Dunne for his service to the club.
Padraig Madden was reappointed Senior, Junior & Under 21 manager while the minor hurling & football and junior football management will be confirmed in the New Year.

The club would like to thank Madeleine Maher, Tadhg Nevin and Seamus Deely who stepped down as Vice-Chairperson, Asst Treasurer and Development Officer, for their service.
Clothes Collection: fundraiser for the Juvenile Club will be held between 8th – 19th January. More details to follow.
Tipperary Clubs Draw: With the 2012-2013 draw half way through, we are asking all promoters to bring their monies up to date and forward to draw coordinator Margaret Gleeson.
