Senior: The seniors ensured their senior status for 2014 and progression to the semi-finals of the O’Riain Cup following a 3-16 to 0-12 win over Moneygall in Cloughjordan on Sunday evening. With a lot on the line, the team put in a committed performance and earned a deserved win. The draw for the semi-final takes place next Monday night where we will gace either Borrisokane, Thurles Sarsfields, Carrick Davins or Cashel King Cormacs.
Junior Hurling: The Junior ‘A’ Hurling Championship gets underway this Saturday, 29th June when Lorrha face Burgess in Puckane at 7.00pm
Minor: Lorrha will play Clonakenny/Moneygall in round 1 of the Minor ‘B’ Hurling Championship in Moatfield this Thursday, 27th June at 7.30pm.
Under 16: The U16 ‘B’ Hurling Championship will get underway on Monday next, 1st July when Lorrha travel to Portroe.
Under 12: The U12’s lost to both Kilruane MacDonaghs and Ballina in the past week. This Thursday, they travel to Nenagh to play Nenagh Eire Og.
Tipperary: Best of luck to Brian Hogan and the Tipperary Minor hurlers in their Munster semi-final against Limerick in Semple Stadium, Thurles this evening (Wednesday). Also best of luck to the Tipp senior footballers against Galway this Saturday.
The Gathering: The Club held a successful reunion of players in the GAA Centre last Friday night as part of the Lorrha & Dorrha Heritage Festival. Players and mentors from the 1983 Intermediate Football and Under 21 ‘B’ hurlers, 1993 Minor hurlers and 2003 Junior ‘B’ hurlers, all of whom won North titles in those years attend the event. Thanks to the Mannion family for the food as well as Ray Kennedy for providing the music, as well as Tony Coen and Sean Mannion behind the bar.
The club would like to congratulate the Lorrha & Dorrha Festival committee for organising a successful event.
Cúl Camp: This years Kellogg’s Cúl Camp for 6-13 year olds takes place in Moatfield from 15-19 July. The cost remains the same as last year: first child – €55, second child – €45 and third child – €40. Places in the camp can be booked on line at www.gaa.ie/culcamps. Promotional packs of Kellogg’s Cornflakes and Rice Crispies feature a unique code, which can be used by parents online to receive a €5 discount.
Gym Membership: (All rates are inclusive of club membership rates above) Adult Players – €150 (€50+€100); Non-Playing member – €150 (€30+€120); Student – €100 (€20+€80); Family (2+2) – €200 (€80+€120); Non club member – €150. Individual rates are €3 per session for club members and €5 per session for non members. All 2012 members who have not renewed their membership have now had their phobs turned off. Social Dancing: resumes this Friday night to the music of the Moynihan Brothers. Dancing 9.30pm to 12.30am. Refreshments served.
Sympathy: Lorrha GAA Club would like to sympathise with the Sherlock family on the death of Eddie Sherlock, Abbeyleix who passed away recently.
