Lorrha GAA News for 3 February

Auction: Our annual Auction is on next Sunday 4th February in Moatfield at 2.00pm. There will be the usual supply of timber, turf and other items for sale, while there will also be a signed Tipperary senior hurling jersey up for auction. All support would be appreciated.

Medal Presentation: The Under 21, Junior, Under 12 & Under 11 hurlers, and Junior Camogie team will receive their North & County medals for 2017 at a Presentation Night in Moatfield on Saturday 10th February. Music by Joe Casey & Co. All are welcome to attend.

Membership: for 2018 is now due. €90 – Adult player; €50 – Minor/College student; €30 – Non-playing Adult (+€70 extra for gym membership); €20 – Juvenile (16 & under); €90 – Family (2 adults & 2 children, capped at €100 for three or more children).

Closing date for membership for all adult and juvenile players is the last day of February while the closing date for all membership is 31st March. It is important to remember that our total number of adult members by 31st March is the number the County Board will use towards our ticket allocations for Tipperary games so it is in your interest to have membership paid by then. Membership can be paid to registrar Louise Mannion or online at www.locallotto.ie.

Refereeing: A foundation course, organised by Tipperary County Board for new referees, will take place over four nights in February. Please contact North Referees Coordinator Philip Kelly for further info 0872863683.

Senior: Lorrha have been drawn against Kilruane MacDonaghs in the first round of the North Tipperary Senior Hurling Championship. This game is likely to be played over Easter weekend, 30 March/1-2 April. Lorrha will also have a County Championship game on weekend 7-8 April.

The County League will get underway on weekend 3-4 March.

Gaeltacht Scholarships: Gaeltacht Scholarships forms from Coiste Chontae Thiobraid Árann in 2018 are now available. Scholarships are confined to 2nd year, TY and 5th year students. Application form and reference letter are required from Club secretary Michael Kennedy. The closing date for the receipt of Gaeltacht Scholarship applications is Friday 2nd February.

Social Dancing: continues on Friday night with music of Glen Flynn, from 9.30pm til late.

Sympathy: Lorrha GAA Club would like to sympathise with the Liffey family, on the death of Stephen Liffey, Dereen, Cloughjordan, who passed away last weekend. May he rest in peace.
