Lorrha GAA News for 31 March

Senior: With Tipperary progressing to the semi-finals of the Allianz Hurling League, the North Championship clash v Kilruane will not be on this Sunday. If Tipperary fail to progress to the league final, Lorrha will be playing Moycarkey/Borris in the Seamus O Riain Cup on weekend 7-8 April or on 14-15 April if Tipp make the final, with the Kilruane game going back to weekend 21-22 April.

Junior: Lorrha began the defence of their North Junior 'B' League title with a hard earned 0-14 to 1-11 draw against Silvermines in Dolla on Saturday, with Ronan O'Meara getting the goal. Lorrha are away to Ballinahinch in their next game in Easter Monday in Shallee @ 6.00pm

Under 16: Lorrha Rovers Gaels were due to begin their Under 16 'A' Football Championship campaign against Ballina in Moatfield on Monday 26th March but the game has been deferred.

They will now begin on Easter Monday against Ballinahinch/Templederry in Templederry at 6.30pm

Under 14: Lorrha were due to play Newport in the semi-final of Feile 'B' Hurling blitz on Saturday but Lorrha were unable to field and conceded the game.

In the U14 'B' Football Championship, Lorrha begin this evening, Wednesday 28th March against Kiladangan in Moatfield at 6.30pm.

Under 12: The U12 football championship continued on Friday last with both teams playing Kilruane MacDonaghs in Cloughjordan. The 'B' team beat Kilruane MacDonaghs 1-7 to 1-1 while the 'D' team suffered a heavy defeat.

This Good Friday, the 'D' team host Ballinahinch in Moatfield at 6.00pm while the 'B' team host Borrisokane at 6.40pm

Under 6, 8 & 10: On Monday, 2nd April, a six week course limited to under 6 & 8 players will start in the complex in Moatfield from 6.30 to 7.30pm. This course will develop movement and coordination in a games based and fun way. It will also be age specific. The course costs €2 per night per child. Places are limited so contact Juvenile chairman Tom Kennedy 0879191689 to confirm.

Membership: for 2018 is now due. Closing date is this Saturday, 31st March. Fees are: €90 – Adult player; €50 – Minor/College student; €30 – Non-playing Adult (+€70 extra for gym membership); €20 – Juvenile (16 & under); €90 – Family (2 adults & 2 children, capped at €100 for three or more children).

It is important to remember that our total number of adult members by 31st March is the number the County Board will use towards our ticket allocations for Tipperary games so it is in your interest to have membership paid by then. Membership can be paid to registrar Louise Mannion or online at www.locallotto.ie.

Tipperary: Best of luck to Patrick Maher, Brian Hogan, Eoin McIntyre, selector John Madden and the Tipperary senior hurling team in the National League semi-final against Limerick this Saturday.

Sympathy: Lorrha GAA Club would like to sympathise with the family and friends of singer Sam O'Doherty who passed away last week. Sam, from Tipperary Town, played at our Social Dancing Fridays on many occasions and will be greatly missed.
