Lorrha GAA News for 6 February

Senior: Lorrha will play Templederry in the first round of the North Championship on the first weekend in April. Borris-Ileigh and Borrisokane are also in the group with the top three progressing to the knockout stages.
The County League will commence on the first weekend in March.
Junior Hurling: Lorrha will host Borris-Ileigh in the first round of the Junior ‘A’ League in late March. Lorrha also play Moneygall (away), Burgess (home) and Kilruane (away).
In the Championship, Lorrha face Knockshegowna in the first round and also play Burgess, Kildangan and Borris-Ileigh.
Under 21: Lorrha have been drawn against Toomevara in the first round of the Under 21 ‘A’ Championship which will be played in the autumn.
Lorrha will travel to Ballina on weekend 23-24 February in the first round of the U21 ‘B’ Football Championship. Lorrha will also host Moneygall/Clonakenny a week later with the top two progressing to the semi-finals.
Minor: Lorrha will host Moneygall/Clonakenny in the first round of the Minor ‘A’ Hurling Championship. Lorrha also play Shannon Rovers Gaels (away) and Templederry (home).
Lorrha have been drawn against Moneygall/Clonakenny (away), Borrisokane (home) and Portroe (away) in the Minor ‘B’ Football Championship. Games will commence in late March.
Gaeltacht Scholarships: Coiste Chontae Thiobraid Árann is offering a limited number of Gaeltacht Scholarships to 2nd level students in the county. All clubs have now been circulated with application forms and the form will also be available for download on the Tipperarary GAA website. These Scholarships are limited to those students currently in 2nd, 5th and Transition Years. Applicants or their parents must have been registered members of their local GAA Club in 2012. Closing date for applications is Thursday, February 28th. Please note that students who have already booked a place in a Gaeltacht College and have the deposit paid cannot avail of this scheme. These scholarships are only available in three Colleges as follows: Coláistí Chorca Dhuibhne, Baile an Fheirtéaraigh, Trá Lí, Co Chiarraí. (2 Options); Coláiste Na Mumhan, Beal Athan Ghaorthaidh, Co. Chorcai (2 Options); Coláiste na Rinne, Co. Phort Lairge (3 Options).
Membership: for 2013 is now due. All are encouraged to sign-up before the closing date of 31st March as it will count towards our Tipperary ticket allocation later in the year and will also be entered into a draw for 2 Stand Tickets to the All Ireland Hurling Final. Adult Player – €50; Non-Playing Adult – €30; Students & Minors – €20; Juveniles (16 & under) – €15; Family Membership (2 Adults & 2 Juveniles) – €80. Each additional child is €10 each. Membership is payable to Registrar Louise Mannion, Curraghagloss, or can also be paid online at myclubfinances.com.
Gym Membership: for 2013 is now available. (All rates are inclusive of club membership rates above) Adult Players – €150 (€50+€100); Non-Playing member – €150 (€30+€120); Student – €100 (€20+€80); Family (2+2) – €200 (€80+€120); Non club member – €150. Season Ticket: The Tipperary season ticket package is available. For just €200, the new 2013 Premier Gold Plus Package will give access to all adult club games within the county organised by the Tipperary county and divisional CCCs. Applications forms are available through the club.
Blood Bank: The Irish Blood Transfusion Service will be holding a blood donation drive in Moatfield on Tuesday, 26th February. Anyone which wishes to donate blood can go there on the day.
Tipperary Clubs Draw: We are asking all promoters to bring their monies up to date and forward to draw coordinator Margaret Gleeson.
Sports Hall or Function Room booking: If anyone or any sports team would like to use of our facilities, which include a sports hall, gym or training field with floodlights or function room, contact Sean Mannion on 087-3643031.
Social Dancing: continues on Friday night to the music of Footloose. Dancing 9.30pm to 12.30am. Admission is €8, refreshments served.
Sympathy: Lorrha GAA Club would like to sympathise with the Lambe family on the death of Chrissie Lambe, who died last week. May she rest in peace.
