Lorrha GAA News for 7 February

Adult Hurling: Training for the new season got underway on Sunday morning with a very healthy turnout. However, there were a number, particularly Under 21’s who did not attend. Training continues on Friday at 8.15pm and on Sunday morning.
The draw was made for the Junior ‘A’ hurling league last Friday. Lorrha will play Kilruane (h), Roscrea (a), Nenagh (h) and Borris-Ileigh (a). League will begin in mid-March.

Gaeltacht Scholarships: Application forms for GAA Gaeltacht Scholarships for second level students are now available from Shane Brophy. Closing date for applications is Friday next, 13 February.

Indoor Hurling: Indoor hurling began last Friday in Lorrha Hall with 25 children present. Also encouraging were the number of parents present and as a result, a rota was drawn up to oversee training over the next six to eight weeks. Training continues this Friday in Lorrha Hall with Team 1 in charge.

SuperValu Promotion: The club has signed up for the SuperValu ‘Kids in Action’ promotion. A range of sports equipment can be obtained for the club through a collection of tokens earns when shopping in any SuperValu store. We would appreciate that those who collect the tokens would pass them onto Juvenile Secretary Niall Brophy by early March.

Scór: The North final of Senior Scór will take place in Borrisoleigh on Saturday February 28th at 8pm. As this is the 40th year of Scór, the North Scór committee would hope that all clubs would take part in at least two competitions. If anyone is interested in taking part, contact club secretary Shane Brophy.

North Tipp trials: The club wishes Christopher Guilfoyle, Niall O’Meara and Philip Hogan in their current trials for the North Tipp Under 16 team.

Membership: Membership for 2009 is now available. €40 – Adult Players; €20 – Non Playing Adults; €15 – Minor/College Students and Juveniles (with match ticket entry); €10 – Juveniles (without match ticket entry). All players must have their membership paid before the start of the league and all membership is payable to club registrar Jack Maher or any committee member.

Merchandise: Jerseys: 2 x size 5-6 – €35; 5 x size 9-10 – €35; 1 x medium – €45; 2 x XL – €45; 2 x XXL – €45. Polo-shirts: 1 x XL – €15. Juvenile jacket size 10-11 is €30. Club crested shorts, 2 x 36 inch are €15 and socks are also available while stocks last. All can be purchased from Shane Brophy on 086-0515324.

Lotto: The numbers drawn this week were: 7 – 9 – 12 – 23. No Winner.
The Lucky Dips were: Billy Reddish, Fiona Daly, Gerard O’Meara, Tom & Tom McLoughlin, Ciara and Marie Maher. The Winning Promoters were: Brophys, Shane Brophy and PJ Hogan.

Old Time Dancing: Old Time Dancing continues on Friday, 2 January to the music of Richie Halpin. Dancing 9.30pm to 12.30am.
