Lorrha GAA News for 7 May

Tipperary Clubs Draw: All co-ordinators are asked to collect all outstanding money for the draw before registering members for the 2011-2012 draw which begins on 20 May. The Draw costs €100 for the year or €10 per month with monthly prizes ranging from €200 up to €30,000 and a car. €50 from each ticket stays with the club while the number of players counts towards our Tipperary ticket allocation later in the year. Your support is greatly appreciated.

Lotto: The numbers drawn this week were: 6 – 10 – 22 – 24. No Winner.
The Lucky Dips were: Joe Cleary, Pat McLoughney, Kitty Maher, Tony Morris and Tommy Needham. The Promoters were: Brophys, Noreen Lewis and Louis McCormack. Our jackpot now stands at €9100. Thank you for your continued support.

Official Opening: The official opening of new Dressings Rooms and Sports Hall will take place on Sunday evening, 22 May and will be marked by a match between the Tipperary and Galway Under 21 hurlers. More details next week.

Calf-rearing fundraiser: The response to our calf rearing scheme is very encouraging and we would like to thank all who have agreed to participate. If you are willing to rear a calf or keep an older animal or sponsor a calf please contact Declan O’Meara.

Senior: The seniors got back to winning ways with a 2-12 to 2-4 win over Boherlahan-Dualla in the league in Moatfield on Sunday last. The team are back in championship action this Saturday against Kilruane MacDonaghs in Toomevara @ 7.00pm where we need a win to remain in the hunt for the knockout stages. Junior: The juniors drew 0-12 to 1-9 with Moneygall in the league on Saturday. Our final game is against Kilruane MacDonaghs in Moatfield this Sunday evening @ 7.00pm where we need a win to have a chance of making the semi-finals.

Minor Football: Next up is Inane Rovers in Ballingarry on Wednsday (this evening) @ 6.45pm. Their final game is next Tuesday, 10 May in Moatfield against Nenagh Eire Og @ 7.15pm.

U16: Best of luck to the 16’s who take on Ballina ‘B’ in the North ‘C’ Final on Monday next, 9 May in Puckane @ 6.30pm. Best of luck to the players and mentors.

U14: The U14’s were defeated 2-8 to 2-6 by Shannon Rovers Gaels on Wednesday last.

Premier 12’s: Training for U10 & 12’s in Moatfield on Tuesday evenings from 7.30pm to 8.30pm.

Munster U16: Congratulations to Jamie Lewis and Christopher Fogarty who were on the North Tipperary Under 16 squad that won the Munster Inter-Divisional title in Mallow on Monday.

Cul Camp: This years Lorrha Vhi Cul Camp will be held between 18-22 July. Application forms will be circulated in the schools this week. Prices are the same as last year; €55 for first child; €45 for second and €35 for each subsequent child. Club contact is Louise Mannion 087-6598387

Super Camp: A Super Camp for 13-16 year olds, both boys and girls will be held in Burgess GAA club, Kilcolman between 3-5 August. The cost of the camp is €40 but places are limited to 12 per club. Further information, contact Louise Mannion 087-6598387.

Presentation: The club made a presentation to Mrs. Elizabeth Houlihan at the Senior Citizens Party on Sunday last to mark her retirement as jersey washer, a vital role she performed for 25 years. A special word of thanks to Mrs. Houlihan as without her, literally we would not be able to put teams on the field.

Photo Gallery: Further to the ongoing development of the new clubhouse facilities, the committee are looking at setting up of photo gallery of current and past Lorrha teams and Lorrha players who played with Tipperary over the years.
We ask that anyone who would have photos in their family photo albums relating to above would wish to share with the club. The club will make a copy of your submitted photo and return original to you. If you have any interesting photos no matter how old or new that you think may be of interest to the club please contact Rose Mannion or William Harding.

Old Time Dancing: continues on Friday night to the music of Midnight Dynamo. Dancing 9.30pm to 12.30am.
