Lorrha GAA News for 9 April

Senior: The Seniors begin their County Championship campaign this Sunday when they take on Portroe in Cloughjordan at 2pm. This is a vital game to get the campaign off to a good start and we are looking for a big Lorrha support to get behind the lads.

Junior: The Junior B hurlers suffered a 2-12 to 0-11 defeat to Portroe in the opening round of the North League in Moatfield on Saturday evening. Played in very heavy conditions, Lorrha trailed 0-8 to 0-4 at half time but recovered to lead at the three quarter mark but the concession of two goals in a minute ended our hopes. Our next game is at home to Toomevara in two weeks.

Minor: Lorrha Rovers exited the Minor 'B' Football Championship following a 0-10 to 1-4 defeat to Borrisokane in Ballinderry last Wednesday evening.

Under 16: Lorrha Rovers Gaels defeated Ballina 4-8 to 0-5 in the second round of the 'A' championship in Ballinderry last Thursday. They played Borris-Ileigh in Borrisoleigh on Monday evening and recorded a 4-10 to 0-5 win. Next Monday, they host Kilruane MacDonaghs in Ballinderry at 6.30pm

Under 14: Lorrha Rovers Gaels began the 'B' Football Championship against Moneygall/Clonakenny on Tuesday and easily defeated Moneygall/Clonakenny. Next Wednesday, 13th April Lorrha Rovers play Newport in Ballinderry @ 6.30pm

Under 12: The U12's suffered a heavy defeat in their most recent game against Toomevara last week. Lorrha played Burgess in their latest game on Tuesday evening, and were also defeated..

Tipperary Clubs Draw: Congratulations to Clarke Gleeson, Lordspark who won €500 in the April County Board Draw held last Friday. This was the final draw of the 2015-2016 Tipperary Draw, all promoters and subscribers are asked to bring your accounts up to date and contact Margaret Gleeson. The 2016-2017 draw will get underway in late May and if you want to join, contact any club officer.

Lorrha CountryFest 2016: Tickets (€20) are available from Kevin Molloy (0876738986) for this years Country Music Festival at Moatfield which takes place on Sunday, 17th July from 12 noon to 7pm. Line-up includes Mike Denver, Robert Mizzell, Louise Morrissey, The Conquerors, Johnny Brady, Pete Kennedy, Sean Slattery & The Connections as well as local band Tradstone. A day not to be missed!

Social Dancing: on Friday night to the music of Sam O'Doherty. Dancing 9.30pm to 12.30am.

Blood Donor Clinic: returns to Lorrha GAA Centre on Tuesday, 19th April from 3-5pn and 7-9.30pm. Blood supply is low at present, please make every effort to donate.
