Lorrha GAA News for 9 August

Club Development: Lorrha GAA Club are seeking tenders for building of an extension to the clubhouse in Moatfield. All those interested can contact the club secretary Shane Brophy on 086-0515324 or write to Lisballyard, Rathcabbin, Roscrea for an information pack on the project. All tenders to be submitted by 31 August.

Senior: Lorrha 3-8 Carrick Swan 3-17
Lorrha’s senior campaign came to an end on Friday evening in the Seamus O’Riain Cup. Short a number of players, a far sharper Swans were too strong on the evening. We would like to thank the players for their efforts throughout the year and also to the management team led by Jim Williams that stood down after the game.

Junior: Lorrha’s final group game with Toomevara will take place next week.

Under 21: Lorrha v Kilruane will take place in Ballinderry on weekend of 15-17 August.

Minor: Lorrha 1-7 Borris-Ileigh 2-13
Our minors suffered a heavy defeat at the hands of a very good Borris-Ileigh side last week. Our group matches are now complete with Lorrha guaranteed a playoff at worse for a quarter final.

Under 16: Lorrha v Moneygall in Moatfield on Friday, 8 August at 7.30pm.

Under 14: The Under 14’s maintained their unbeaten run with a 3-3 to 1-4 win over Moneygall last Thursday evening. That win confirms Lorrha’s place in the semi-finals. They took on Portroe on Tuesday evening also. News next week.

Jerseys: There are a small number of jerseys in some sizes still available by contacting the club secretary.

Tickets: With the All Ireland semi-final with Waterford in Croke Park on Sunday week unlikely to sell-out. All those that require tickets are asked to contact Shane Brophy on 086-0515324 by no later than next Monday evening to place your order. Family tickets also available.

Camogie Fundraiser: The Camogie Club are holding a fundraising table quiz in The Friars Tavern on Friday, 15 August. A raffle will also take place on the night with tickets on sale from the players at €2 each with the top prize being a signed Tipp jersey. Your support is greatly appreciated.

Tipperary: Congratulations to Kevin & Patrick Maher and the Tipp Under 21 team following their success last week in the Munster Final. They now take on Derry in the All Ireland semi final on 23 August. Best of Luck to the Tipperary minor hurlers and footballers this weekend.

Parish Outing: The Lorrha Parish Golf Outing takes place in Portumna GC on Saturday, 30 August. Tee-off times from 9am to 1pm with the timesheet with Tony Coen on 090-9747972.

Lotto: The numbers drawn on 28 July were: 12 – 17 – 20 – 21. No Winner.
The Lucky Dips were: Mary Carroll, Liam O’Meara, Patrick Keeshan, Mairead Hoctor and Mick Carroll. The Winning Promoters were: Brophys, Geraldine O’Meara and Billy Dagg.

Old Time Dancing: Our Old Time Dancing continues in the GAA Clubhouse on Friday night to the music of The Evergreens. Dancing 9.30pm to 12.30am.
