Lorrha GAA Notes for 23 January

Juvenile Meeting: An important meeting of the Juvenile club will take place in Lorrha Hall on this Friday night at 8.15pm following the Indoor Hurling. All parents are asked to attend.

Dinner Dance: Lorrha GAA and Camogie club will host a joint-dinner dance in the Co. Arms Hotel, Birr on Saturday, 30 January. Medals will be presented on the night to the Junior Camogie team, the senior men on their league victory and the U16’s for their North Final success. Tickets are now on sale at €30 and can be bought from Shane Brophy (087-6989612). Those wishing to attend are asked to buy their tickets by the middle of next week for hotel planning purposes.

Membership: Membership is now available and the rates are unchanged for 2010. €40 – Adult Players; €20 – Non Playing Adults; €15 – Minor/College Students and Juveniles (with match ticket entry); €10 – Juveniles (without match ticket entry). All membership is payable to club registrar Tadhg Nevin, Glenbower, Rathcabbin. New GAA rules mean the closing date for all membership is 31 March 2010.

Coaching Course: The club hosted a very successful foundation level coaching course on Monday and Wednesday night of last week. Quite a number of members received expert coaching advice from Len Gaynor and Damien Young.

Coaching seminars: The County Board are holding coaching seminars for football (with senior manager John Evans on Saturday 30 January) and hurling (with senior hurling trainer Cian O’Neill on Saturday 6 February). Registrations forms are on the county board website and the fee is 50 euro.

Referees Course: Anyone interested in doing a referees course is to contact the club asap.

Support Your Club: If you are a Vodafone customer you can now support the Lorrha club by signing up to Vodafone Support Your Club for free. At absolutely no cost to you 5% of your monthly bill or top up will go directly to the club. Club members and supporters also need to register at www.supportyourgaaclub.ie. Uptake has been positive but we ask those who have not signed up to do so in the coming weeks.

Lotto: The numbers drawn this week were: 4 – 5 – 9 – 22. No Winner.
The Lucky Dips were: Maura Waters Power, Des Clancy, Ger Mannion, John Reddan and Martin Nolan. The Winning Promoters were: Billy Dagg, Pat Hough and Brophys.

Old Time Dancing: Old Time Dancing continues on Friday night to the music of Brian McDermott. Dancing 9.30pm to 12.30am.
