LUCAN SARSFIELDS’ CLUB NOTES MONDAY NOVEMBER 26th 2012

Tickets for our Christmas Draw have now been distributed to all mentors and are available from the bar. Tickets cost €5. Top prize is €2000. The Club Christmas Party will be on Saturday, 8th December. All adult members/players, juvenile parents and friends are invited. Congratulations to Matt McCaffrey on his Evening Herald / Dublin Bus Hurling Dub Star award at wing back. Well done to our minor camogie team who won their third Minor A camogie championship in a row after a great contest against old rivals St. Vincents last Tuesday.Well done also to our Senior 7 camogie team on winning their league final on Sunday morning against Castleknock.All of this team are still minors. Congratulations to Lucan senior camogie players Marie Moynihan, Ali Twomey, Claire Rigney , Kate Whyte and Orla Beagan who have been invited to join the Dublin Senior camogie squad for 2013. This will be Claire, Kate and Orla’s first involvement with the county senior squad. Best wishes to them all.It was a cause for double celebration for Claire Rigney who was named Dublin Minor Player of the year for 2012 at Friday nights award ceremony. Congratulation also to Holly Walsh from the Div. 7 team who was voted players player of year in that division by her fellow players. All of this success was however topped by our U-7 Camogie team who played their first match on Sunday morning beating Erins Isle. Well done to our U-21 Footballers who couldn’t be separated from Kilmacud after extra time in the quarter final of the A championship last Saturday. Details of the replay will be on our website as soon as they are announced. The Dublin semi-final of Scór na nÓg was held in Lucan Sarsfields on Tuesday, 20th of November. Four clubs were represented; St Pat’s of Palmerstown, St Finian’s of Newcastle, Ballinteer St John’s and Lucan Sarsfields. In what was a fantastic achievement, Evan Carroll, our Grúpa Ceoil and our Quiz team successfully negotiated their way to the Dublin Scór na nÓg Final which will be held Tuesday, Nov 27th @ 7.30pm in Craobh Chiarán, beside Parnell Park. All support would be greatly welcomed on the night! The Dhani Jones Hurling Cup will be contested on Friday November 30th between the parishes of Esker and St. Marys at 8pm in the 12th Lock. This will be followed by Mick O’Hara’s annual 60 Hurling questions quiz in the bar. The Club is currently undertaking a review of the Clubhouse bar in light of significant reduced turnover in recent years. We invite all adult members (over 18) to input to this review and give your views by taking part in a survey. The survey can be completed by going to our website www.lucansarsfields.ie. or by filling out the form at the bar. The Annual Table Quiz on behalf of the St. Vincent de Paul Conferences in Lucan takes place on Wednesday 28th November 2012 in the Clubhouse at 8.30pm. Table of 4 is 40 euro. VDP urgently needs your help this year. Spots, prizes, donations and unopened toys/gifts gratefully accepted. Please leave behind the bar. The NEXT LAST MAN STANDING competition for €1000 will begin with the Premier League fixtures of December 1st/2nd/3rd. As before, enter at the bar before 11pm, Friday 30th November. 25 Card Drive continues every Friday night in the Clubhouse, €5 entry, 1st prize €50. Our nurseries now take place every Saturday on our All Weather Pitch at our clubhouse grounds at The 12th Lock. Football and Hurling for boys born in 2006, 2007 and 2008 1:30pm to 3pm. Football for girls born in 2005,2006 and 2007 1:30pm to 2:15pm and Camogie for girls aged 6 and over 2:15 to 3:00. No need to pre-register..Set Dancing classes take place every Wednesday @ 8.30pm.
