In a thrilling encounter in Parnell Park on Friday night, Lucan Sarsfields Minor hurlers captured the Minor B Championship title. After a slow start and allowing opponents Oliver Plumketts build a lead of 1-4 to 0-1, Lucan struck three times to head in at the break 3-1 to 1-4. Plunketts came out fighting in the second half and scored four points without reply. But Lucan dug deep and started playing as a unit and took the title in emphatic style 4-5 to 1-9. At the presentation captain Alan Whyte commented that many of this team had been together since U10. This bodes well for underage, and indeed senior, hurling in Lucan with the capture of two Minor titles in three years.
