Minor Football League Div. 4 Final
Sarsfields 3 – 09, Naas 0 – 11 20th Apr 2014
The ability to take their goal chances was the difference between the sides. Three Sarsfields goals from Shane Doyle (2) and Colm Galvin (1) always kept the Newbridge side in front. However halfway through the second half there was only three points between them. Sarsfields led 2 – 6 to 0 – 9 but Naas could not reduce the arrears any further and lost by seven points in the end.
Naas got off to a flying start with points from Matthew Drewett and Darragh Gunning. Sarsfields drew level with two Rory O’Donnell points. A Shane Doyle goal put Sarsfields three point ahead. A Conor McPhillips free reduced the arrears but Sarsfields tacked on three more points to lead 1 – 5 to 0 – 3 at the interval.
An early Sarsfields goal put them eight in front. Four points without reply reduced the deficit to four points. Sarsfields O’Donnell pointed but McPhilips put two over for Naas leaving three between them. In the 21st minute Sarsfields put paid to a Naas revival with a Colm Galvin goal.
