Clonmore Minors lost out to a more physical and stronger Slaney Rangers team in the Minor ‘B’ Final last Saturday. Clonmore started strongly with 3 points by Dale McNamara along with a goal from the penalty spot by Jordan Kane and a Jason Byrne point to leave us 1-4 to 0-4 up at half time. Slaney Rangers got a great boost to the second half with an early goal and a string of further points by the Tullow/ Grange outfit made life difficult for our young team, 14 of whom are underage again next year. The game was still there for the taking right up to the 60th minute when the score was 1-9 to 1-6 but Rangers scored three points in injury time to give them a flattering win. Clonmore registered just 2 second half points from an Adam Byrne free and another Dale McNamara point to leave a final scoreline of Clonmore 1-6 Slaney Rangers 1-12.
Well done to all the 18 players and the 3 Mentors who put in great effort and commitment to the club for the last 7 months. We send best wishes for a speedy recovery to Andrew Byrne who was injured in the game.
