Minor Hurling Championship Report

Minors in Exciting Draw

At Pairc Ui Chonaill in Cobh on last Thursday night our Minor hurlers opened their championship campaign. This game was originally fixed for Caherlag and when the Erins Own venue was not available we travelled to Cobh after losing the toss of a coin. It was a high scoring game with plenty drama! We led by double scores at half time and held a 7 point lead with just a few minutes left. In the end Cobh finished strongly and the game ended in a draw. We had a total of ten points in the first half with Jason Mannix, Gerard Healy, Daniel Lane and Barry Collins all contributing. The score at the short whistle was Bride Rovers 0-10 to Cobh 0-5. Jason Mannix added a goal and a point to our tally early in the second half and we looked well in control. Near the end Cobh got a goal from a long distance shot to reduce our lead to 4 points. Then disaster struck as a second goal followed. Cobh tied up the scores with a point from a ’65 with the last puck of the game. A game we should have won but this is a double league competition and we will have to face Cobh again and then meet Sars ‘B’ twice.

The top two teams will then meet in the final. our next game was down for July 30th against Sars ‘B’ but this game will go off and will be re-fixed for a later date.
