Neale  1—09   v   Shrule  3–06

The Neale played Shrule in Cong last Sunday morning in a very lively game which was well contested right  up to the final whistle. The industrious Sean Cosgrave opened the Neale’s account from a free after a foul on Tomas Walsh which was followed immediately with a similar score from Shrule. An excellent individual effort from Cosgrave was followed by a goal and a point from David Morrin pushed the Neale 1—03 to 0—01 ahead after ten minutes. Shrule began to come more into the game at this stage and a quick 1—02 saw them tie up the game at the end of the first quarter. Two Sean Cosgrave points one from all of fifty metres put the Neale two points ahead. Just before half time Shrule tagged on 1—01 to leave the half time score Neale 1—05 and Shrule 2—04.

At the start of the second half the Neale introduced Niall Coen for Tomas Walsh. Two Sean Cosgrave points (1 free ) brought parity once more and when Daragh Walsh received a good pass from Dylan Fallon and sent over a point from an acute angle the Neale edged in front again . However Shrule fitness began to tell and they scored 1-01 to put them two points up with full time approaching. The teams traded points with the Neale’s point coming from a side line ball by the man of the match Daragh Walsh, to leave Shrule winners on a score line of 3==06 to 1—09. In addition to Daragh those who played well for the Neale were James Biggins, Michael Lynagh, Paul O’ Malley, David Morrin and Sean Cosgrave.
