November 8, 2018

There was mixed fortunes for Barna GAA Club’s juvenile teams on the field over the past week.

An under strength under 14 side were defeated by Corofin in the league. Meanwhile, the club’s under 16 team qualified for the semi final in Comortas Peile na Gaeltachta with a well deserved win against neighbours Moycullen. This was the second time the sides met over the past week with the previous league match ending in a draw.

The under 13s defeated Oranmore/Maree in the first game of the City League and play Salthill/Knocknacarra on Sunday at 10am in the Prairie. The under 13 B team commence their campaign next Sunday against City club St. Michael’s at 10.30am.

The Barna junior footballers hammered Salthill/Knocknacarra on Friday night on a score line of 3-8 to 0-9. Their next game is against St James’ on May 12 at Mervue.

The senior’s match against Carna/Caiseal was postponed following the sudden and tragic death of 23-years-old Daniel Conroy, an nGleann Mór, Cill Chiaráin, who was integral to Carna/Caiseal’s promotion from intermediate last season.

Meanwhile, last Friday, April 19, Mayo TD John O’Mahony was the guest speaker at the annual Club Coaches night in Donnelly’s Bar. John gave a very interesting insight into his time as manager of Galway, Mayo and Leitrim senior teams and contributed to a very enjoyable night for all club personnel.
