Hurling

Our first team played a challenge game against Drom & Inch at the cross on Tuesday evening last. Conditions were suited for the game of hurling however there was a strong breeze throughout blowing in the Knockbrittas direction. Both sides started off well, Treacys playing against the wind notched up a tally of six points to Drom’s eight. Scores coming from Paul Shanahan, Dec Hickey, Joey Ryan, John Butler, Ollie Carr and a Sean Kennedy free. Treacys upped the tempo in the second half and aided by the wind struck two goals courtesy of Dec Hickey and a long range effort from corner back Tom Hickey found its way to the net. Drom found it difficult to break down the Treacy defence while Treacys forwards were working hard also. Drom managed four points in the second half against the wind to Treacys 2-8.The final score finished Sean Treacys 2-14 Drom 0-12. Team and scorers: Sean o Dwyer Simon Kennedy Joey Ryan Tom Hickey(1-0) Liam Nolan Sean Kennedy(0-1f) Paudie Carey Denis Stapleton(0-1f) Paudie Ryan(0-1) Jamie O Toole (0-2) Ollie Carr (0-1) John Butler(0-1) Dec Hickey(1-2) Paul Shanahan(0-2) Joey Ryan(0-3,2f)

Our second team travelled to Clonakenny on Thursday last playing them in high scoring challenge game. It was a perfect evening for the game of hurling with temperatures soaring. Treacys aided by some first team hurlers started off well but had to play the majority of the game with fourteen men as TJ Quigley saw red for an off the ball incident early on. Sean Kennedy went to centre back and managed seven or eight points, majority from placed balls. The half time score was 1-14 to 0-8 in Clonakennys favour but Treacys reduced the deficit in the second half with goals from William Ryan and Seamus Costello but unfortunately this was not enough as Clonakenny ran out winners on a final score of 3-21 to 2-19.Team Sean O Dwyer Greg Kennedy John Berkery Mark Hogan Sean Mullins TJ Quigley Ger O Toole Joey Ryan Mike Hanly Sean Kennedy Liam Nolan Pat Hickey Shane Fahy William Ryan(j) Colm Nolan. Junior Football

Our footballers played Solohead in the second round of the Junior Championship in Cappawhite on Friday evening last. Treacys had to come from behind against a strong Solohead side to snatch a vital win which sent them joint top of the group with Rosegreen. The final score finished Sean Treacys 2-11 Solohead 0-13.Continued effort is essential. Training will be notified by text.
