Moydow Harpers Vs Ballymahon in Div 2 League

November 7, 2018

Moydow Harpers 0-03   Ballymahon 1-12

Moydow Harpers had a tough task on Friday evening last against a Ballymahon side who will play in the Longford Senior Championship this year.

Starting against a stiff breeze in the first half, Moydow set-up defensively to try and quell the Ballymahon forwards. This tactic seemed to work and the Harpers cut out many attacks limiting the Ballymahon forwards to just 5 points.

When in possession however, Moydow failed to create many chances and ended up scoreless in the first half.

Half-Time: Moydow Harpers 0-00             Ballymahon        0-05

The second half started like the first with the Harpers defending courageously and limiting scoring opportunities for the visiting sides. As the half wore on, Moydow went searching for their elusive first score. While, they created more meaningful attacks than in the first half, the Harpers missed numerous scoring opportunities and at times took the wrong scoring option.

With a greater emphasis now being placed on attack, more space was available in the Ballymahon forward line and the senior side exploited this clinically.  They added on additional points and struck a superb goal towards the latter stages.

Moydow finished strong however, and finally got on the scoreboard with a Niall Keenan free. This was followed with good points from Keelan Dowd and David Tiernan.
