Moydow Harpers 0-05 Killashee St Brigids 2-14
A severely depleted Moydow Harpers team lost out heavily in the end but for the first 40 minutes, the game was on a knife-edge.
Moydow, missing over 10 of their panel for different reasons, put up a great fight to Killashee and looked potential winners with approx. 10 minutes gone in the second half. However a goal by Killashee appeared to open the flood gates and for the last 20 minutes of the game, it was all Killashee who racked up a further 8 points in that time.
The first half was a different affair with both sides trading blows equally. Killashee had the better start but the Harpers hung in and eventually started playing with some fluidity between defence and attack. When the Harpers started to run at the Killashee defence they looked dangerous and were it not for a couple of dropped balls at critical times, the half-time score line might have been a different story.
At both ends of the pitch, the goalkeepers were helping to keep the score down with some excellent saves, particularly from Man of the Match, Brendan Conway.
Half Time: Moydow Harpers 0-04 Killashee St. Brigids 1-03
The second half started like the first ended with no team particularly dominant. After about 10 minutes, the game was there for the taking and unfortunately for the Harpers, Killashee eventually landed a couple of vital scores to create daylight between the sides.
The Harpers to their credit battled hard but the writing was on the wall and Killashee never looked like relinquishing their lead in the final quarter of the game. In this time Brendan Conway, again, pulled off some excellent saves, but it wasn’t enough to resurrect a fightback.
