Newbridge Town FC is holding a race night on Sat 24th June 2017 at 8.00pm and we would love your support. As the club continues to grow and the teams find success on the field of play, our aim is to help prepare the players and coaches with the best education a top quality facility.
Newbridge Town are blessed to have some of the finest facility in county Kildare; however, our grass pitches need a bit of love and attention. At present they look amazing as summer football takes hold but recently the committee sought advice on what we need to improve our pitches and provide our teams with the best playing field we can.
Following a pitch inspection, specialist in Verti-Draining, Scarifying & Hollow Coring on Sports Grounds, Harris Turf Improvements Ltd had this to say
- “A layer of dead grass (thatch) and silty soil approximately 25-30mm deep on the surface was observed, this layer has built up over the last number of years due to lack of sanding and aeration of pitch
- This layer becomes sealed and as a result prevents free drainage of water from the pitch surface
- Top dressing with sand and aeration of pitch annually, will prevent this layer from building up on the surface of the pitch”
What does this mean? It means we need to invest in the pitches. They might look great in the sunshine at present but there is much needed work to make the better and protect them longer term.
One of the plans to raise money is a club race night on Sat 24th June 2017 at 8.00pm. All funds raised will go into the upgrade all the grass pitches, and this work will commence in the coming weeks when the schoolboys season is a on a break.
Please come down on the night. Please buy a horse or three, in fact we are hoping each member – player/coach/fan will sell 5 horses’, you can name your own horse, jockey and owner.
The cost is €10, fill in the details below and return to your manager / coach by Monday 10th June, to enable us to get the race cards completed for the night, the race winner’s prize is a gift card voucher to the value of €25.
