News Update 5/5/14

November 7, 2018

Strictly Come Dancing: Final preparations are being made for our Strictly Come Dancing fundraiser event in the Racket Hall Hotel in Roscrea next Friday week.  Our eleven dance pairings have put a lot of time and hard work into their performances in recent weeks and tickets are selling out quickly.  A small number are still available from our dancers for €20 each for what promises to be a night full of entertainment.

Senior: Best of luck to our senior team who will take on Borris-Ileigh in the first round of the north championship this Sunday afternoon.  This match will be played in Dolla at 4pm.

Junior: Our junior hurlers were beaten by Toomevara in the north league on Saturday evening last.  Our final group match will be against Knockshegowna.

Minor: Clonakenny/Moneygall were beaten by Gortnahoe Glengoole in the quarter final of the mid football championship last Thursday evening.  The hurling championship will start after the Leaving Cert exams and we have been drawn in a group with Thurles Gaels, Gortnahoe Glengoole and JK Brackens.

Under 16 & 14: Training continues for these players on Thursday evenings at 7.30pm in preparation for the upcoming hurling championships.  The U14 championship begins on 28th May and the U16 will start in late June.

Under 12: We were defeated by Lorrha in the North U12 C Football semi final last week.  We put in a great performance with only 5 pts between the sides at half time and also mid way through second half, but a much physically stronger Lorrha side finished very strongly to win by 7-5 to 2-6.
We can now look forward to the start of U12 hurling championship on May 23rd with great interest.  No training this Wednesday 7th, but we hope to have training on Saturday 10th, time to be confirmed.

Under 10: We had a very successful week with our U10s this week.  Firstly we took part in a new hurling initiative in Borrisokane on Wednesday last where Shannon Rovers Gaels, Borrisokane and ourselves came together for a combined training session with over 40 kids taking part.  All kids got great enjoyment from the different drills and the mini matches on a very damp evening.
We must compliment David Needham for being so well organised on the evening and putting in so much work in getting this event to run so smoothly, we must also thank Borrisokane for hosting the event.
A special thanks to Tipperary players Darragh Egan and Jason Forde for their words of wisdom and skills exhibition for a very excited bunch of kids, with all our players going home very happy and looking forward to our next outing in Moneygall in four weeks time.
We took part in county blitz on Saturday morning last in The Ragg, winning all three games and we must compliment our players for their great effort on the day.  No training on Wednesday 7th as we are due to play match on Thursday 8th instead in Moneygall at 6pm.

Under 8 & 6: Our U8 blitz was cancelled on Saturday morning last due to poor weather conditions.  Both U6 and U8 are due to play on Thursday evening May 8th at 6pm in Moneygall.

National League: Hard luck to the Tipperary panel and management on their one point defeat in last Sunday’s national league final.  We wish Tipp the best of luck for the upcoming championship.
