North JHC: Toomevara 2-11 Moneygall 3-6

Our junior hurlers began their north championship campaign with a narrow defeat to Toomevara in the Group 2 first round match played in Cloughjordan on Friday evening. 

Moneygall started the game well and opened up a 0-3 to 0-0 lead but Toomevara were soon level at 0-3 each.  Then two goals from John Doughan, coming either side of a Toomevara goal from a 21 yard free, gave Moneygall a half time lead of 2-4 to 1-6.

John Doughan hit a third goal in the second half but Toomevara slowly got on top as the half went on, and led 2-11 to 3-6 in injury time.  Moneygall had one last chance from a 21 yard free but Barry Ryan’s shot was blocked out for a 65, and Toomevara held on to win.
