KENTSTOWN ROVERS FC RESULTS and REPORTS:

U-9s  4-0  Duleek Celtic,D.C.S.L.(wed.6th)
(report to follow)

U-11s  2-6 Parkvilla,N.E.C.S.L.(tues.5th)
After beating the Villa in the Shield on saturday last,Rovers couldnt repeat the feat on tuesday night.Villa were on top from the start but Kentstown,as always, carried on fighting until the end.

Senior  4-1  Slane Wanderers,M.D.L.(wed.6th)
In Slane on wednesday night,Rovers kept their safety mission on course with a clinical performance against promotion hopefuls,Slane.
Rovers started with the same energy from their big win at the weekend with Darren Lynch and Derek Bowens finding the net before half time.Slane pulled one back with 20minutes to go in the 2nd half but Kentstown showed their steel by producing 2 more goals on the counter attack.Darren Lynch got the 3rd and his second when Derek Bowens sent him through and Lynch finished cooly.Derek Bowens then scored the goal of the night and possibly the season when flicking past a defender on the half way line, beating 2 more players and then rounding the keeper to finish the game with the away support in raptures.
A sour note on the night was the injury sustained to our Centre Midfield rock,Andy Lynch. He suffered a broken ankle and will now miss the rest of the season. The club wishes him a speedy recovery.
TEAM: K.Shields,R.McDonnell,S.Doyle,S.Gargan,D.Ratcliffe,G.Toal,A.Lynch,C.Cowley,D.Lynch,D.Bowens,C.Lynch.
SUBS: D.Doyle for A.Lynch,M.Bates for G.Toal and P.McDonnell for D.Lynch.

Kentstown Rovers 4 —  Duleek Celtic 0

Another clean sheet for our No.1 Joseph Moore as our mighty 9’s push on as worthy winners in tonight’s encounter. Duleek are to be applauded for their never say die attitude but to be fair, if it wasnt for their goalkeeper (a young lad that looks 3years older and is big with it) they would have been 10-0 down by the time the referee blew the final whistle.
we didnt settle very well early on but our defence was solid and through Simon Rooney , Ryan Ashe and Cathal Hickey (Our Captain) the ball was being threaded to the wings but we were having difficulty getting through. things changed after 6 minutes when a fabulous pass from Jamie Kirwan allowed Luke Holohan to slot home his first of the night. It was practically a carbon copy of this pass again by Jamie Kirwan at 12 minutes but this time to Adam Mahon who calmly slots the ball home for our second goal. we made some substitutions at that point and brought on Sean Nolan for Luke Holohan and Dylan Bagnall for Adam Mahon and quickly they got to work testing the Duleek defence and making their goalkeeper work hard for his team.
The second half began a more even affair with both sides having chances but our keeper Joseph Moore was proving more consistent as usual. Sorcha Gough comes into the game for us and immediately starts to go to work in the midfield for us showing all the skill of a much more experienced player.Sean Commons comes in for us to replace Dylan Bagnall who has worked really hard but was the victim of a bad tackle from behind which injured his shoulder. it doesnt take long for Sean Commons to get his name on the score sheet through a Sorcha Gough pass and we are now 3-0 up. Luke Holohan comes back on for us and fairly immediately Sean Commons passes to Luke and its his second goal of the night with a far top corner special to make a convincing 4-0 win for the Green and White of Kentstown.
Thanks as always to the parents who scream each week for us and always push us on. We are at home again on saturday morning the 9.4.11 to Albion Black who are a tough side.kick off for that game is 10am and as always, all are welcome to support the mighty 9’s.
