Rhode 3-12

Edenderry 3-11

This was a cracking game to watch, with no love lost between these two sides it was hell for leather. Edenderry took an early led with points from Claire Connolly, Kym Furey and Emma Murphy. Edenderry’s player of the match Kym Furey Slotted three goals pass the Rhode keeper Oonagh Mulligan. But Rhode reeled them back in with Captain Niamh Malone playing at her best along with Orlaigh Heavey. Niamh Mooney and Amy Kerrigan. The half time scoreline read Edenderry 3-4 Rhode 1-09.

Rhode picked it up early in the second half with a well taken goal from Orlaigh Heavey. Rhode played some lovely football in this half, Hannah McMahon, Niamh Mooney and Katie Killeen really stepping up their game and defiantly three girls to watch in the future. Further scores from Therese Hickey and Niamh Malone left a four point gap between the sides but once again the skill of Edenderry’s Kym Furey’s shooting brought the girls in Red and White back to within a point. Like Rhode Edenderry have some very talented young player’s Emma Brady, Ciara Brady and Claire Connolly have a flair for the game. Offaly Ladies football is raising the bar in Leinster and when you see these young girls coming along you feel that we will be there at the top for a long time to come. The final outcome was a one point win for the Rhode girls winning on a 3-12 to 3-11 scoreline, well done to both Clubs. A word of thanks is extended to Edenderry Gaa for the use of their fine facilities.
