NAAS 1 – 12 MONASTEREVIN 1 – 5
Naas continued their winning run with a seven point win over Monasterevin to keep them in contention for a place in the Leinster Leader cup final with three games left. The first half was closely contested with Monasterevin getting a boost of a 13th. Minute goal from full-forward Colm McCabe. The sides were level at the interval. Two Joey Cocoman points and a Stephen Piggott goal after fifteen minutes put Naas in command.
Naas opened the scoring with a Naas point. Wayne Fitzpatrick replied with a Monasterevin free. A Kevin Curtis point for Naas put them in the lead. Colm McCabe rattled the net for Monasterevin after 13minutes to regain the lead. Another Curtis point and one from Neil Farragher brought the teams level 0 – 4 to 1 – 1. Shane Bergin and Wayne Fitzpatrick swapped frees as did Neil Farragher and Fitzpatrick. The sides were level at the break 0 – 6 to 1 – 3.
At the start of the second half two Joey Cocoman points were split by a Wayne Freeman point for Monasterevin. The scores were level after twelve minutes, 0 – 8 to 1 – 5, when Colm McCabe pointed from a free. Naas went a goal up after fifteen minutes when Stephen Piggott netted after a strong run by Shane Bergin. A Shane Bergin free followed by two John Joyce points and one from David Gahan completed the scoring to give Naas a seven point victory.
