This weekend is County Senior Hurling Championship time once more. For the
second year in a row we are pitted against St Finbarrs of Togher. Last year
in a thriller in the Park we beat the Barrs before losing out to eventual
winners Erins Own at the quarter final stage of the competition. It’s back
to Pairc Uí Chaoimh on this Saturday night May 5th at 7pm for the clash with
the Barrs. Our selectors, players and trainer Pat Heffernan have put in a
huge effort this year. We know that, unlike last year, there will be no
element of surprise this year as St Finbarrs will be well prepared. Our lads
have played some good games this season. We’ve had our disappointments too,
losing to Kilmoyley in the Munster Senior League semi final and then losing
by a solitary point to Blackrock in the County Senior Hurling League Final.
We should have won both of these games but we didn’t. Everyone knows that on
Saturday evening it will take a huge effort to defeat St Finbarrs. The game
is on early at 7 o’clock so we appeal for huge vocal support from all parts
of the parish. This will be a tough one – go for it lads.
