SFL: Sarsfields 1-11 Carbury 0-14

The senior footballers gained their first point of the campaign last night when they drew with Carbury. Having led for most of the game and looked to be on course for a win Carbury gained parity with a late point. The next game is against Leixlip next Saturday in Sarsfields Park.

Feile Semi-Final Sarsfields 5-10 Carbury 4-9.

Sarsfields U14 Boys footballers have qualified for the Feile final where they will meet old rivals Moorefield, following an impressive win over Carbury this morning. Trailing by 4-4 to 2-6 at the break the Sash Boys put in an impressive second half performance to outscore Carbury by 3-4 to 0-5 in the second half to deservedly advance to the final where the big prize of a trip to the National Feile Finals awaits the winners. The U16 Footballers also qualified for the League Semi -finals after a comfortable 5-8 to 1-7 win over Monasterevan in thei final League game this morning.

Sarsfields V CarburyU/14 Feile A Semi Final (In Sarsfields)

This match promised to be a cracker of a game and it didn’tdisappoint. Carbury got off to a flying start with a goal after 3 min and thenext few minutes saw both sides squander good chances. Darragh Ryan openedSarsfields account after 7 min with a well taken point. Then the match came tolife and in the next ten min saw both teams score 5 goals and 5 points betweenthem, a Tony Keogh penalty and Darragh Ryan again on the score sheet this timewith a goal. It was the Carbury full foward Josh Lenihan who was causing theproblems for the sash as he scored 1-02.

Now approaching half time and with Carbury in the drivingseat they suffered a set back when they lost their centre half back Josh Brown.Carbury using the wind at their backs played some long balls in to the squarewhich resulted in 2 goals to leave the half time scores 2-06 to 4-04 in favourof the visitors

Sarsfields got off to a great start in the second half withgoals from Kevin Coyne and Darragh Ryan to put the sash 2 points ahead. Bothsides then swapped scores which saw the teams no more than 3 points apart. Thenon the 51st min came the turning point of the match, a good ballfrom Tony Keogh to Kevin Coyne and after a great solo run he let the ball offto Darragh Ryan who again made no mistake in front of goal to put 5 pointsbetween the teams. Carbury fought bravely to the end and scored 2 more points,but with points from Connor McHugh and Tony Keogh kept Sarsfiels ahead and to advanceto the Final. Best for Sarsfields were Tony Keogh, Darragh Ryan, Kevin Coyne.  

Player Membership

All players must have their membership paid or have made arrangements to pay their membership by April 15th to Registrar Ollie Ryan or Vice Chairman Christy Horan. Christy will be in the clubhouse every night from 8pm to collect membership.

Club Spring Clean

Volunteers are required to help with a Club Spring Clean up on Wednesday 17th April at 6.30. Anyone who can spare an hour or two would be most welcome.

Thursday Night Darts Tournament

The Thursday night Pool Tournament continues this Thursday night at 9pm. There will also be a tournament on Saturday next April 13th. Don’t forget that there is a ‘Killer’ Darts tournament every Sunday night at 9pm
