The underage awards were recently handed out at Sarsfields and the hall was packed to capacity for the presentations. Chairman Declan McAlinden welcomed the large crowd to the evening and commented that he was delighted to see such a great turnout. He went on to say that the support from parents this season had made a great contribution to underage football at the club.
Secretary Sean McAlinden said that the club had made great strides in underage football and he thanked all the coaches and helpers. He had particular praise for the U14 Ladies team. This was the first year of U14 ladies football at the club. Early in the year it became evident that there was a demand for this team to be formed. Coaching structures had been in place thanks to Jaqueline Doyle and Sinead McMahon. Senior players Jolene Scullion and Melissa Donnelly had stepped up to the management role and in their first season as managers led this team of talented ladies to league and championship success.
