Scor Sinsear

Our Scór teams did very well at the weekend. Overall we had eight entries in Scór Sinsear, the best we have had for some time. Six of those qualified for the County Finals in Manorhamilton next Saturday. It was great to see a Rince Foirne on stage for the club again after a long period of years. Believe it or not we havn’t had a Rince Foirne group in senior Scór since 1986. We were also represented in Rince Seit again this year although the gap since our last participation wasn’t as long. Still, we hadn’t taken part in Rince Seit since the year 2000. In Aithriseoireacht we had Brendan Brennan and Muire Sweeney Ahern taking part. Elaine Duignan sang in Amhranaíocht Aonair and we had two quiz teams: Out of retirement came Andy Duffy, Walter Sharpley and Seán Ó Suilleabháin and the other team was made up of Adrian Smith, Alan Banks and Cormac Ó Suilleabháin. In Nuachleas “Umpa” made a return to the stage.
Minors Win.
Our minors beat Bornacoola by 4-10 to 2-4 to reach the League semi-final. Playing with a strong breeze our boys got off to a great start with a goal from John Christie, We were leading at half-time by 2-8 to 0-2, but Bornacoola came back strong and with ten minutes left it was 2-8 to 2-4. Then a great move by Jim McTague and another by Brian Beirne plus a goal line clearance by young goalie, John Fanning ensured that victory was ours.
John Harte award winner.
Comhghairdeas to John Harte who has been chosen among seventeen people who will receive the President’s ward at a banquet in Páirc an Chrócaigh on St Patrick’s Day after the club Finals.
Sympathy.
The club extends sympathy to the McGovern Family, Aughawillan and Dublin on the death of Seán McGovern at the weekend
