November 8, 2018

Fixtures: Our seniors have a Division 2 game on Saturday at 6.30 in Drumkeerin against Drumkeerin. On Sunday our Division 3 team play Annaduff in the Park at 2.30.

Under 12s win 2 games: Pride of place at the moment goes to our under 12 team who have now played four games and won all four. Last Friday they went to Aughawillan and beat Drumreilly in a thrilling game by a single point, 3-6 to 2-8. Then on Monday they played Annaduff in the Park and this proved to be their toughest game yet. In the first half Annaduff had the best of it and led by 0-4 to 0-1 at half time. Luke Murphy got our only point in this half. However we had a lot of chances and with the help of the slight breeze in the second half we were hopeful of getting back into the game. We were not to be disappointed. Points from Dean McGovern, Niall McGovern and Donal Feely brought us level. Then a great goal from Patrick Connaughton put us ahead for the first time. Dean McGovern put us two up but Annaduff came back again. Dean McGovern got a further point but when Annaduff got back to within a goal, Donal Feely made it safe again with the last point and it finished 1-7 to 0-6.
There were great performances all round. Fergal Curran made some great saves in goal. Peter Reynolds was very sound at full back. Brian Leyden was absolutely brilliant at centre half back. The two midfielders Dean McGovern and Donal Feely were wonderful all through. The forwards were all good but Luke Murphy, Niall McGovern and Patrick Connaughton were exceptional. Next game is against Glencar/Manorhamilton on Wednesday next.
Foireann: Fergal Curran, Daire Reynolds, Peter Reynolds, Mark O’Reilly, Barry McGovern, Brian Leyden, Róisín McHugh, Dean McGovern (0-3), Donal Feely (0-2), Daire Murphy, Niall McGovern (0-1), James Hamill, Conor Maxwell, Luke Murphy (0-1), Patrick Connaughton (1-0). Subs: Archie Williams, Sarah Beth Reilly, Adam Goldrick, Killian Dooner, Daire Maxwell.
Our Junrs beaten by Bornacoola: Our junior A team in Division 3 played Bornacoola on Saturday. Although they were well beaten in the finish they put up quite a good performance despite being short a number of key players. It was a case of just the bare fifteen once again. At half time it was 1-7 to 0-4 for Bornacoola, with our points coming from Cormac Ó Suilleabháin, Adrian Smith from a free, Rory O’Rourke and Trevor Martin. For much of the second half they gave as good as they got and but for two great saves by Fergal McGill in the Bornacoola goals from shots by Cormac Ó Suilleabháin and Adrian Gallogly we could have been ahead. Shane Murphy got a great point from an individual effort, Rory O’Rourke, Adrian Gallogly and Adrian Smith got points. When Rory O’Rourke got a goal there was only a few points in it but Bornacoola finished stronger and won by 2-15 to 1-9.
Race Night: Míle buíochas to all who made our race night such a success. To all the sellers and buyers of “dogs” as well as race sponsors, to Gay Prior for the use of his premises and to Tomás Ó Moráin who acted as Fear a Tí for the night.

Nathan Gallagher was on the Leitrim boy’s team and Breda Began was on the girl’s team. Comhghairdeas don bheirt acú.
