Scór

November 8, 2018

Well it’s January and shortly the East Cork semi finals and final of the East Cork Scór Sinnsear (Senior) talent competition will be held. It is now nearly forty years since the Scór GAA Talent competitions were first held. While the GAA is primarily about playing hurling and football, the role of preserving and promoting our native culture is also very important. It must be said that in recent years the interest in the Adult Scór competition has been falling. There are so many other counter attractions nowadays, but still the competition survives. At club level the ideal situation would be to have a local competition at parish level. Unfortunately we find it difficult each year to get competitors to represent the club at East Cork level. Like every other parish there is plenty talent in this parish. For 2007 the club would like to enter in as many sections as possible at East Cork level. The following are the competitions:
(a) Figure Dancing
(b) Set Dancing
(c) Solo Singing
(d) Question Time (3)
(e) Ballad Group (2-5)
(f) Instrumental Music (2-4)
(g) Recitation (Solo)
(h) Novelty Act (2-7)
If you are interested in taking part in any of these competitions please contact club Cultural Officer James Bermingham or any other club officers.
