Sean Treacys 1-16 Annacarty 0-06

Treacys reached the West final overcoming a lively Annacarty at Tipp town on Saturday 19th to set up a final meeting with Golden. Treacys found the going tough in the first half as the opposition pushed them all the way until finally they took over mid way through the second half.  Early points from Gorman Stapleton Kennedy Hickey and Martin McLoughlin for Treacys were matched by Annacarty with Gearoid Ryan and Alan Shanahan getting the best scores leaving the half time score 0-7 to 0-4 to Treacys. Everything went right for Treacys while the opposite happened for Annacarty who were very unlucky not to score a goal form a great move which was just sent wide by Alan Shanahan. Treacys got points from PJ and Martin McLoughlin, and a super one from Declan O’Toole who ran the length of the field to score. The goal was finished by Murphy after a patient build up who coolly placed the ball in the back of the net. Subs came from all directions as usual for Treacys with Owen Hurley getting his name on the score sheet almost followed by Eamon Ryan who hit the upright to be denied a point. Seanie Ryan tried hard for Annacarty getting the point of the game assisted by Crosse and Mooney. Golden will be tough opposition and we look forward to a mouth watering final. Bulls

Well done to Tom Hickey our clubman who won again and will represent Ireland in Carlisle in October as highlighted on the Farmer’s Journal recently. Tom is a well known Limousine breeder as well as being an excellent hurler and footballer for Treacys.

Club History

The club was founded in 1962 bringing Kilcommon Rearcross and Hollyford together to form Sean Treacys. Kilcommon/Rearcross had played in the North and Hollyford in the West. Our first officers were Dan Kennedy Chairman, Pakie Ryan Secretary and Paddy Stapleton Treasurer. We played our first match against Cashel in No 1 Junior and won the No 2 Junior Hurling beating Cappawhite 3-6 to 4-2 in the final in the year of our birth.  More detail will be available on the soon to be launched club website
