Senior Hurlers Lose

November 8, 2018

Our senior hurlers lost out narrowly to Ballinteer St John’s on thursday last by 11 points to 10. Olafs had a great first half and led by 8 to 6 at the break. But a very strong start to the second half by St John’s and an injury to Olaf’s full forward Johnny McGrath when he had to be replaced meant that we lost out by a point. John’s scored 4 points without reply in that early second half before Olaf’s hit back but time just ran out on us. Defences were on top for both teams and for Olaf,s our half back line of Kinsella, McCaffery and Harrington were sound all through the game. We hit the Balinteer upright twice in the last five minutes but could not get the draw we deserved.

This was our first outing in the championship and as it is a played on a round robbin basis we have still a very good chance of reaching the playoff stages.
