Senior Hurlers Win Semi Final

November 8, 2018

Naomh Fionnbarra 0-15 Kilmacud Crokes 1-10.

In a pulsating match played in blustery conditions under lights down in Ringsend

the club advanced to the final of this years championship against Round Towers.

The club took and early lead in the first couple of minutes and held the lead till midway

through the first when Crokes  broke through the defence to score a GOAL. Crokes continued to

dominate for the rest of the half but for a very strong desplay from our backs they would have ,

led by more than the 4 points lead that they went in by after 30 minutes.

With some strong talking by manager Nicky Kehoe and a sub at the start of the second half, the barrs

came out fighting and started to chip away at Crokes lead, some great scoring from placed balls from Stephen Costello

and Niall Paget brought the teams level. both clubs continued to trade score for score with Crokes seeming to be able to just hold

on to lead and then with 5 minuted to go we drew level once again.

The last five minutes both teams tried in vain to break away but with the barrs in fighting form and players putting their bodies, hurls and anything else they had into the fray, this team spirit won through and with 2 hard won frees superbly taken the barrs swept into a 2 point less with 1 minute plus injury time.

Crokes piled on the pressure but the backs held out ant there were tears of joy when the final whistle finally blew to put us into our  first  hurling championship final since we won it in 1983.

roll on next Sunday.
