Senior Hurling...Kinvara v Beagh

November 8, 2018

Kinvara v Beagh

Local rivalries time again, as this time Kinvara senior hurlers do battle agianst neighbours Beagh in the second round of the County Cup. These two sides last met in 2008, playing out a thrilling draw 0-18 to 0-18, in a game that both sides felt they should have won.

This time though most people will have Beagh as favourites. They had an impressive opening win v Killimordaly, and have been an emerging side in the past 3-4 years. Kinvara, on the otherhand, although winning, did not exactly set the lights on fire v Clarinbridge in their first game. However, first games nerves will now be gone and players should settle quicker on Sunday.

Kinvara will have Paul O’Sullivan coming back after injury, but may not be fully fit. Other players still out through injury are Steve Moylan and Gerry Wynne.  It will be interesting to see if management go along the same lines as before. I would however expect some a slight change, be it in personnel or positional switch. Options may be moving Shane Kav up a bit, or starting Peter Mahon. We’ll see.

Expect this game to be a tough slog, as always between these two. Beagh are the form side, and will fancy themselves here. However, our backs will be a different story to Killimordalys in their previous game. We know we can curtail their high scorers. The big question is whether our lads can score more than they did against Clarinbridge. A score of 2-7 will not win this game. We will probably have to score in the region of 2-14 to win this. Can we score that much? Lets hope we can.

Best of luck so lads on Sunday. We encourage all to come out and support them. Bring the kids, bring an elderly neighbour, bring someone. The more shouting support the better!
