Senior Team Progress to Knockout Stages

November 7, 2018

Tynagh/Abbey-Duniry 0-22     Kiltormer    1-11

Tynagh/Abbey-Duniry Senior team guaranteed qualification for the knock out stages of the Cooper’s Hurling Championship with a fine win over Kiltormer in Kenny Park, Athenry on Sunday, June 5th. They began brightly and went two points up in the opening minutes before Kiltormer settled down and sent over four unanswered points. The sides were level on seven points each by the 25th minute but despite playing against the wind TAD managed to edge two ahead again before Kiltormer narrowed the gap to the minimum before half time leaving the score 0-9 to 0-8 at the interval.

TAD began the second half in the best possible way with four points, one of which was a goal chance after a spectacular run by the lively Padraig Breheny. Kiltormer managed a solitary point from a free on thirteen minutes before once again TAD struck for four points without reply. Keith Kilkenny pointed another free for Kiltormer but TAD really turned on the style then with a further five points. Kiltormer scored a consolation goal on the hour but it was too little too late and  TAD ran out comfortable winners. Best for TAD on the day were Paddy McHugo, Paul Gordan, John Breheny, Padraig Breheny, Colm Larkin and Shane  Moloney but Kevin Moloney was undoubtedly Man of the Match with a flawless display at wing back.
