Seniors lose to Tullamore in League

Edenderry seniors suffered a three point loss to Tullamore on Wednesday night just three days after the sides played out a draw game in the first round of the championship.

Tullamore started the brightest and were value for their 1-3 to no score lead after just eight minutes. In the tenth minute a Martin Keogh goal sparked life into the reds and Ciaran Hurley pointed in the fourteenth minute to reduce the gap to two points. Tullamore responded with 1-1 of their own before Stuart Cullen and Philip Farrell pointed for the reds.

There was four points between the sides going into the final ten minute but the blues hit four unanswered points to extend their lead to eight points at the interval.

Tullamore 2-8 1-3 Edenderry.

Despite a positive start to second half with a point from Stuart Cullen after three minutes, Tullamore once again waltzed through the Edenderry defence and scored their third goal of the game.

Stuart Cullen again pointed for the reds but Tullamore hit back with three unanswered points of their own. In the twelfth minute Mark Young kicked a great point from distance and just four minutes later after some good play from Dan Moloney, Mark side stepped the goalkeeper and placed the ball in the back of the net. A Stephen Guing point a minute later reduced the deficit to seven.

Tullamore again pointed twice to pull away but two late goals from Dan Ryan and Dan Moloney left just three between the sides at full time.
