SFL Div 2: Clonmore 1-17 Fighting Cocks 2-15:

November 8, 2018

For the second week in a row, the Intermediates came out of the wrong side of a one point defeat after an excellent fightback saw them turn an eight point deficit into a two point lead late in the second half.

The Cocks led by 2-11 to 1-6 on 35 minutes but in fifteen minutes of high intensity attacking football Clonmore scored ten unanswered points to the delight of the sizable home support to lead by 1-16 to 2-11 on 52 minutes.  Unfortunately, the lads couldn't sustain the massive effort and succumbed to a late rally from a physically imposing Cocks team. Once again, they were very unlucky not to get something out of the game but the spirit and skill that they showed should stand them in good stead come the championship.

Team: Paddy Byrne, David McCarney (0-2), John Kelly, Paul Hogan, Bobby Rooney, Shane Murphy, Kevin McCarney (0-1), Enda McGrath (0-4), David Mulvany (0-2), Paddy Gahan, Con Murphy (0-1), Anthony Byrne (1-0), Gavin Byrne (0-5,3f), Colin McGrath, Niall Humphries (0-2). Subs: Pauric Lawlor, Alan Humphries, Shane McGrath, Darren McGrath, Willie Byrne.

Next game is at home to St Andrews on Tuesday, 2 June at 8pm – all support welcome.
