SFL Div 2 Clonmore 2-10 Fenagh 0-9 WITH FINAL DIV 2 TABLE 29/5/14

November 8, 2018

After a low scoring and close fought first half, Clonmore were happy to go in 0-5 to 0-4 at half-time. Niall Humphries opened the scoring in the first minute with a wonder point from near the end line. Con Murphy (2,1 f) and Paul Hogan added points before Adam Byrne put us ahead as the HT whistle blew.

Exchanges continued to be close in the third quarter with Fenagh's central forwards, Kinsella at 11 and former county man, Stephen O'Brien, at 14 causing problems. The game looked to be slipping away when Fenagh took the lead on two occasions midway through the half but then Clonmore upped their game with David Mulvany making some good high catches around the middle and John Kelly and Jordan Kane at 3 and 6 getting on top of their men.

Substitutes PJ Byrne and Shane McGrath made a positive impact in the forward line, scoring a point each, but the clinching scores were two well worked goals in seven minutes by livewire midfielder Enda McGrath to put Clonmore 2-8 to 0-8 ahead on 54 minutes.

These goals settled the nerves in this "must win" game and both came from patient build up and support play which shows good maturity and team spirit. Con Murphy put the icing on the game with a long range score on the stroke of full-time.

This win gives us 10 points after playing all our league games which puts us into the semi-finals.
