The Intermediates got the defence of their Division 2 title off to a successful start with a well deserved win over Leighlinbridge in Woodside on Sunday evening. The lads were always in control and went in leading by 1-6 to 0-3 at half-time, the goal a well worked effort from Con Murphy after PJ Byrne, Gavin Byrne, David Mulvany and Kevin McCarney had all been involved in an intricate passing move. L’bridge closed the gap to 1-8 to 1-5 on 48 minutes but Clonmore finished the stronger with points from Gavin Byrne, Paul Byrne and a cracking penalty by Con Murphy after David McCarney was fouled in the square.
Other Div 2 results: St Patricks 1-7 Ballon 1-13; Fenagh 2-7 Grange 2-11, Ballinabranna 2-18 Railyard 0-5.
