SFL Div 2: Clonmore 2-18 Rathvilly 2-11

November 8, 2018

Clonmore made sure of their place in the semi-finals of SFL Division 2 with a convincing win over neighbours Rathvilly in balmy Fr Ryan Park last Saturday evening. Clonmore led by 1-9 to 0-6 at half-time, the goal scored by Con Murphy, and built up a big lead in the second half but let the home team back into the game by conceding 1-6 without reply. However, a goal from a 30 yard shot by Gavin Byrne settled their nerves and they ran out convincing winners in the end. Shane McGrath marked his debut for the Intermediate team with a point and played with great heart and determination. David Mulvany had an outstanding game at centre back as did John McGrath at full-forward while Wesley Byrne and John Kelly defended well in the full back line.

Clonmore now play Ballinabranna in the semi-final next weekend (for date & venue see fixture list)
