SFL Div 2: Clonmore 3-11 St Andrews 3-5

November 8, 2018

Against a weak St Andrews team, Clonmore completely dominated the first half and were good value for their 3-6 to 2-0 lead at half-time. The Bagenalstown men lifted their game in the second half and closed the gap to six points with some impressive scores from the Beaton brothers, Alan and Andrew, but Clonmore were never in danger. Paul Hogan opened the scoring with a point on 2 minutes and proceeded to give a lively performance at corner forward. Paddy Gahan then came up from the half-back line to kick what is becoming a trade mark long range point. The unfortunate Gary Byrne was injured early on but his replacement, Niall Humphries, played like he had a point to prove and his  energetic display was rewarded with a personal tally of 1-4. Further well worked goals from wing forwards Adam Byrne and David Mulvany finished the first half scoring, Crock's goal a rocket to the top corner. In the second half Con Murphy kicked his second '45' of the game and Gavin Byrne got forward for a long range point to show that he has lost none of his accuracy. Adam, Niall and Dale McNamara added points to ensure we stayed a comfortable distance ahead.

Next game is away to the Fighting Cocks on Friday at 7.30pm.
