November 8, 2018

The Clonmore men travelled to Eire Og for the rescheduled fixture on Friday evening last. They faced into what was always going to be a stiff assignment. In what was an excellent team performance, the Clonmore men fought hard to grind out a deserved victory. Eire Og took the early initiative and got 1-02 on the score board before Clonmore replied.  Points from Ray O’Neill, Gavin Byrne and Niall Humpries kept Clonmore in touch but it was the goal from Ray O’Neill that edged the lads in front, but Eire Og quickly equalised. Two goals in quick succession from Niall Humphries and Owen Coleman with two points from the home team left the half time score  3-3 to 1-5 in Clonmore,s favour.

The second half like the first was a hard fought affair which saw some very good football and determination from both sides. Two points from Enda McGrath, a point each from Ray O’Neill and second half substitute John McGrath with two converted frees from Gavin Byrne increased Clonmore’s tally to 3-09 before Willie Rooney rounded off the scoring with a goal in the dying minutes to leave the final score 4-9 to 1-7.
