SFL Div 4: Clonmore 1-6 Grange 0-11

November 8, 2018

Ther Juniors worked hard throughout and were unlucky not to snatch a draw but wayward shooting in the last ten minutes let them down.

Clonmore led by 1-3 to 0-5 at half-time with scores from David McCarney (1-1) and Dale McNamara (0-2). However, Grange upped their game in the second half and a series of points put them 0-11 to 1-5 ahead on 50 minutes. Clonmore had numerous chances for points in the last ten minutes but only scored one – a clever shot from substitute Mark A Byrne which nearly dipped under the crossbar of Grange’s keeper, Jimmy ‘Minor’ Murphy. Jimmy is in his early fifties and not as agile as of yore but fair play to him for still playing at that age !

The final scoreline does not do justice to the efforts of the Clonmore lads but the harsh reality is that you must take your chances.

Team: Paddy Byrne, Martin Doyle, Clive Lambe, Fergal Kavanagh, Jordan Kane, Andrew Byrne, James ‘Scott’ Doyle, John McGrath, Jordan Walsh, Dale McNamara (0-3, 1f), JP Doyle, David McCarney (1-2), Kevin Walsh, Paul Byrne, Brian Kelly. Sub: Mark A Byrne (0-1) for K Walsh.

Next Game: There’s a doubt over next week’s Junior game as Kilbride may have withdrawn from Division 4.
