SFL Div 4: Clonmore 2-10 Ballon 2-5

November 8, 2018

After trailing by 1-3 to 0-3 at half-time, Clonmore raised their game in the second half and out-scored Ballon by 2-7 to 1-2 to run out comfortable winners in the end.

Within seconds of the re-start, Enda McGrath brought Clonmore level with a goal after he dispossessed the Ballon goalkeeper, none other than Liam ‘Mulla’ Doyle, who was trying to sell him a dummy solo. There was a big cheer when that ball hit the net !

Clonmore continued to play the better football with experiencied defenders Collie McGrath and Paul Byrne combining well with impressive youngsters Jordan Kane and David McCarney – both of whom managed to get on the scoresheet – David scored 1-2, his goal a beauty as he used his speed to race through the Ballon defence for a great solo effort.

At midfield, the experienced John McGrath dove-tailed well with another player for the future – Jordan Walsh (0-2)

Up front Enda McGrath deserved his tally of 1-2 for an all action performance, Brian Keogh was steady as ever, slotting over a couple of points with his trusty right boot and the lively Dale McNamara was unlucky not to get on the scoresheet.

This was a positive start for the Junior team which has a nice mix of youth and experience and they can look forward with confidence to the season ahead.
